Hey I'm on a job right now that we're cutting off the factory pipe ends with a chainsaw.
However we can't put chain oil in the saw due to risk of joint contamination. So we go through a lot of chains.
Does anybody know wether or not it would be  ok to use vegitable oil in the saw? Would it penitrate the hdpe?
We're also cleaning the joints with isopropyl alcohol.

Any input may help.
Thanks.

I wouldn't use vegetable oil. I doubt it is any better than bar oil. The issue is not so much the oil penetrating the pipe, it is if any of the oil is left in the fusion area it is a bad thing. Some people use dish soap, but even then, you would want to be darn sure that it was all washed off before facing.

I am guessing you are fusing larger diameter pipe and you are cutting the ends of to get rid of the neck down?

I cannot speak from experience with the following product, and this is in no way an endorsement, but I have found the following product when searching for a chain saw with a focus on cutting PE pipe:
Power Grit Chain Saw
