There are a couple of issues that need to be addressed.
If there is a tight bend near the pipe end where a joint will be made, you need to consider fusing in a 45-degree ell. Even if you were using a 4-jawed machine, you would have to bend the pipe around to fit in the outer jaws then bend it to fit in the inner jaws. While it may seem to make it easier to get alignment, it probably is not and in either case, there is probably too much stress in the joint after the fusion is made. You would have to make sure you increased the cooling time to make absolutely sure that the joint is cool before removing the machine or risk joint failure in the future.
The 2 jawed machines (2LC and 14) are well suited to fusing pipe and attaining great alignment, but it sounds like you are talking about a special situation and extra measures must be taken.
