Regional Sales Managers and Customer Service Representatives at McElroy have been fielding some calls lately that have gone like this:

“Why does the chassis of my new TracStar® 412 (or 618) look different?”

The new chassis is designed to hold an add-on accessory called the McElroy Heater Caddy. The caddy is designed to hold the heater and heater bag frame on the TracStar so that an operator isn’t required to carry the heater from joint to joint.
The TracStar Heater Caddy is available for TracStar® 28, 250, 412 and 618 fusion machines. For machines that don’t have the new socket pre-installed, a retrofit kit is available to attach the heater caddy to older models.

The heater and heater bag frame hook onto the heater carrier and lock securely to the machine. The only requirement for the operator is that the heater’s electrical cord is secured before putting the TracStar into motion.

The attachment for new TracStars is an easy installation requiring the installer to put in a retractable plunger in the threaded hole on the front left corner of the chassis, the heater carrier attachment slides into the receiver socket and is retained by the lock pin on the side. The heater bag frame can then be hooked onto the carrier attachment and is ready to go.

The installation of the retrofit kit requires a bit of welding and paint touch-up, but comes with an instruction sheet to help with the process.
To order a heater caddy, the model numbers are as follows:

AT1818601
