Recently, I have received questions about the size hole in the middle of the heater adapter. The customer understood that they were high flow and low flow adapters or something similar to this. If you run into a customer with this issue, here is the history on adapters per our engineering group.
Over the years we have designed adapters to fit the fittings that were manufactured at the time. As fitting manufactures designed different fittings we designed adapters to fuse them. Since there has been no real consistency or standardization in the industry as far as fitting dimensions, we have not been able to develop any clear standardization in our adapters. Our coding system does not specify the inner hole diameter on adapters. This is one of the reasons we developed the tables shown in today’s catalogue; so users could select the proper adapter based on the fitting they were using. The best suggestion I can give is know what fitting you are attempting to fuse and pick the proper adapter set from the tables. If your fitting is not shown, contact Engineering and have them design what they need.
