When fusion PE pipe for natural gas systems is there any recommendations or verbiage regarding weather conditions. Snow, Rain, blowing dust, etc. I understand that the pipe ends that are to be fused must remain clean. If I shield the fusion area can I perform a butt fusion during heavy winds with dust blowing as long as I ensure the pipe ends remain clean and the visual appearance of the fusion is acceptable.

One other consideration is the "other" ends of the pipe. If the pipe ends are open the wind can blow down the pipe and destabilize the heating temperature, as well as contaminate the joint. In tough conditions such as you describe it would probably be best to cap the pipe ends, tent the fusion machine to protect the fusion from contaminants or wetness and keep careful watch on your pipe interface and the temperature (all around the pipe circumference) of your heater. Dust blowing into an interface can reduce the strength of the fused material, so be cautious!
