Is a branch saddle that has been sidewall fused as strong as installing a tee?

Sidewall fusions, done properly, are leak free and will withstand all the pressures the pipe is rated for.
This is a common connection in gas distribution systems and has seen years of service with no problems, when done correctly.
It is becoming popular in the water market as PE is used more and more.
It allows installing a service or extension of a line, without shutting down the main or squeezing off.
